One more successful Convocation on Public Education held March 26, 2010

On March 26, more than 200 stakeholders in public education gathered to hear Bill Daggett, CEO and Founder of the International Center for Leadership in Education, talk about the need for rigor, relevance and relationships if public schools are to succeed.  He discussed examples of relevance which enabled rigor, such as using football plays to teach second graders about angles and percentages.

The American Leadership Forum Houston/Gulf Coast Chapter and Houston A+ Challenge played host to the sixth biennial Convocation on Public Education March 26, 2010, at the Houston Community College – Central Campus. 

The topic was “Preparing Kids for the Future: Global Trends — Local Action.”  The convocation addressed what the school of the future must look like in order to achieve rigor, relevance and relationships for all students and what individual stakeholders’ roles must be in creating it.
