William M (Mel) Taylor has been a nonprofit executive for many years-working at Baker Ripley and most recently as President and CEO for The Council on Recovery. Mel holds a Master degree from the University of Houston Graduate College of Social Work and was recently named as one of the Top 50 Social Workers in the past 50 years, where he has served as adjunct faculty focusing on leadership and organizational change. A native of Harlingen, Texas in the Rio Grande Valley Mel treasures his bicultural childhood and understanding of this wonderful part of Texas’ heritage. Mel is a student of eastern philosophy, a certified yoga teacher (CYT), a certified Mindfulness and Meditation Teacher and he is certified in Eqi- Emotional Intelligence Assessments. He is also a Wilderness First Responder (WFR), nature photographer and guitar player. He has served the Memorial Park Conservancy, The JUNG Center, and The ManKind Project. He finds happiness in hiking, being with family, music and being part of transcendent process and group dynamics. He enjoys mentoring emerging leaders and is passionate about the dynamics of Inner Leadership.
