DESCRIPTION:Breakfast/Dialogue – FOOD INSECURITY: Exploring the Causes of Food Insecurity and Solutions to Help  Community Citizens Exit the ‘Food Line’\n\n\nJoin us for breakfast & dialogue with  ALF Senior Fellows and community leaders in a panel dialogue to explore the causes of food insecurity and solutions to help  community citizens exit the ‘Food Line’.  The panel dialogue will be moderated by Senior Fellow Nicole Lander (Class 55)\, Chief Impact Officer of the Houston Food Bank.  Immediately following the breakfast & dialogue\, attendees may elect to stay and participate in a volunteer opportunity at the food bank (this is an optional activity). \nPlease read further for directions and parking instructions and volunteer registration link. \n\n\n\n\nVOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY INFORMATION\nThe optional volunteer opportunity will take place immediately following the breakfast & dialogue.  \n9:30am – 12:00pm \nAll volunteers MUST register in advance. The Houston Food Bank utilizes volunteers six days a week at our main warehouse. Whether you come out as an individual or part of a group\, we are certain you will have an enjoyable\, positive experience.   \nVolunteers MUST be at least 6 years old and supervised by parent or guardian throughout the shift. \nAll volunteers under the age of 18 also need a completed Youth Volunteer Consent Form signed by a parent or guardian.  A copy of this form can be downloaded by clicking the RESOURCES tab on your Volunteer Profile page.   \nDescription of Duties  \nVaries with the makeup volunteers for shift. Most of the projects at the warehouse involve inspecting\, sorting\, and repackaging of donated food items for community distribution. \nAttire Information  \nCLOSED-TOE SHOES REQUIRED – casual dress\, long pants (preferred)\, t-shirt with sleeves.  Bring work gloves if desired.
